RHC's Children's Retreat provides families and/or caregivers the needed respite while their children are developing new skills in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. Children's Retreat is developed specifically for those youth, ages 6-18, who have both a developmental disability and mental health symptoms.
RHC's Children's Retreat promotes mental wellness in children and adolescents with developmental disabilities via a holistic approach that nurtures self-esteem, competence, social-connectedness, and emotional support. The program's goal are to support the emotional wellness of the children and adolescents served and to empower children and their families to increase their independence, to improve their mental health , and to promote successful community integration.
Evidenced Based Model of Care- RHC Children's Retreat provides high quality programming and support to children, youth, and their families based on positive behavior support principles and best practices. The staff's goal is to maintain ongoing efforts toward continuous improvement and growth in innovative intervention approaches based on evidence-based research.
The Children's Retreat program utilizes the START (Systematic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Respite, and Treatment) model first developed in 1989, as a systems linkage approach to the provision of services and supports in the community for individuals with developmental and behavioral health needs.
Referral Process- RHC receives referrals from a variety of community agencies that provide services to children and youth accepting referrals based upon eligibility/exclusionary criteria.
Fee of Services-The fee for services is contingent upon the types and duration of services received by the children and family and established by contract with area funding sources. Scholarship opportunities are available for children who meet eligibility criteria and do not have the funding resources available to cover the cost.
