How do I become a Foster Care Provider?

RHC is always looking for existing family homes that would consider expanding their family circle to include an individual needing services.  Basic requirements include:

  • Available private bedroom for the new resident
  • A valid Drivers License
  • Reliable vehicle
  • Homeowners and vehicle insurance
  • Experience (through work or life) caring for a person with a disability

The agency is especially interested in seeking out providers who have homes that are wheelchair accessible and/or that have a strong male role model present.

Additional requirements if selected to be a provider include:

  • Completion of required training on abuse, neglect, and mistreatment.
  • First Aid/CPR
  • A criminal background check based on fingerprinting for everyone 18 years of age and older in the household.  Criminal background checks are completed before being accepted as a provider and randomly thereafter.
  • Drug tests are completed before being accepted as a provider and randomly thereafter.
  • Complete home inspections by monitoring entities.

Any family interested in becoming involved as providers for RHC Foster Family Services should plan to attend an information session.  These information sessions are scheduled quarterly and assist in understanding the program, as well as what it is like to be a provider.

The next information sessions TBD.  Sessions are held at 3030 West Fork Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45211 in the Building #6 Gymnasium.
