RHC Emergency Residential Services

“My Safe Place” is a viable housing alternative for individuals needing short-term care in response to unplanned, sometimes emergent situations.  These could include sudden hospitalization of a parent or caregiver, sudden domestic trauma, behavioral problems in the home, or even death of a caregiver.

My Safe Place contracts with families who are experienced in working with individuals with disabilities, and who have chosen to open their homes for emergencies as they occur.  Referrals come from caseworkers as they learn of the unplanned event and contact the RHC staff, who then approach identified host families.  All homes used for these services have been certified by Hamilton County as meeting or exceeding municipal fire and safety codes, and the hosts have passed the agency’s internal background checks.  While these situations are considered temporary and efforts are constantly being made to establish a calm living environment for the participant, it is worth noting that a number of these temporary situations become permanent after the individual and host family become familiar with each other.  These situations are supported and monitored through RHC’s My Family Home program, which is RHC's program to support long-term foster care needs.

Any family interested in becoming involved as hosts for RHC Foster Services can start the process by contacting RHC's Human Resoure Director, Larry Mullins at lmullins@rhcorp.org or at 513.619.2922.

All families and individuals who are seeking additional information about the RHC Emergency Respite Services may contact the Director of Residential Services, Danny Bosley at 513.619.2969 or at dbosley@rhcorp.org.
