RHC is one of the founding partners of a new non-profit organization – Dramakinetics of Cincinnati. The integrated Dramakinetics classes use music, dance and drama as a way to work on developmental goals for all individuals.
The hour-long classes use performing arts to provide opportunities for socialization, motor and language development, and to create an environment where all individuals are respected and valued, regardless of their abilities. Instructors with backgrounds in performing arts and education lead the classes, while assistants help the individuals with special needs to participate as fully as possible.
The integrated classes mean that typical students can be role models for their peers with developmental challenges and they can interact in a diverse group setting to minimize the stigma attached to the labels of ‘disabled’ or ‘special needs’. Classes and workshops can be geared toward any age group and a varying range of abilities.
