Behavior Planning and Intervention Services

Behavior intervention and support planning services are provided within the context of family, school, and applicable community settings, as it is recognized that the key to successful behavior support and modification is a strong involvement of those individuals that are integral to the individual’s daily life.  Therefore,  CITE's staff works closely with the individuals involved in the person’s life as they gather assessment information and collaboratively plan the intervention and support strategies that are indicated.

We will then complete a variety of assessment methods that typically include functional behavior assessment and interview processes, observation of the individual in multiple environments, child and family interaction, and intervention-based assessment.  Based on the assessment findings, we strive to develop comprehensive, multi-component support plans.  Each plan developed addresses ecological, preventive, teaching, consequence, and maintenance strategies.  We are then available to proceed into the implementation phase of the developed plan through either consultation, family/staff training, and/or direct intervention.

At CITE, we understand the imporatance of working directly with the involved caregivers or staff to provide education to ensure that everyone understands the components of the plan. Working directly with the caregivers also provides direct modeling and coaching to the caregivers so they can independently implement the plan.

The level of consultation or direct intervention work varies based upon the individual needs of the caregivers or staff and the intensity of the behavior in response to the plan.  The ultimate goal is to teach the caregivers or staff persons involved in the individual’s life the skills they need to successfully support the individual’s current behavior, maintain this behavior in the future, and also provide them with the tools they need to independently modify aspects of the plan in order to address additional behavioral concerns that might arise in the future.
